  • What size of storage unit do I need? Estimate how many boxes and items you plan to store and then use our size estimator videos to determine which storage option is best for you.   • What is the contract period? Our lease terms are month-to-month.   Your rental with us can be long or short – depending on your needs.
  • What security measures are in place to protect my things? At Global Self Storage, Security is Our First Priority™. Our facilities are all fully-fenced with cameras recording 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  All of our facilities are well-lit throughout. A security code is needed to enter and exit the facility and the gate can only be accessed via your personal gate code.
  • What pest control and cleanliness measures are in place? All Global Self Storage properties are equipped with pest control measures.  We make every effort to provide a superior product with the highest standards for cleanliness and conduct routine maintenance at all of our facilities.
  • Do you provide moving carts or dollies? Most Global Self Storage facilities that have inside units with access through a hallway have moving carts available that may be used at your convenience. If you are renting an inside storage unit and need to use a moving cart, please let the Property Manager know and they will be happy to assist you.
  • Can I buy boxes and other products at the facilities? All facilities offer a variety of moving supplies that are available to purchase. Check out further Storage Tips and our suggestions on packing efficiently on our website.
  • Do I need to purchase insurance for my storage unit? Yes, insurance is required per our lease, but there is great value in this protection. If your homeowner or renter’s insurance doesn’t cover stored items, we can help you sign up with a storage insurance provider.
  • Do I have to buy a lock? Locks are required for your storage unit. You can purchase a new lock at our facility. Some facilities allow you to use your own lock, but it is best to contact the site you are storing with for current lock requirements.
  • What are the lease terms? Units are rented on a month-to-month basis so your rental with us can be long-term or short-term. Payment is due on the 1st of every month and payments can be made via our on-site kiosks, online on our website (Global Pay Online), in-person at the office, or on the phone with the call center or the office.
  • What are the access hours? The majority of our facilities have 24 hours access 7 days a week (even holidays). Some of our facilities have access hours of 6am-10pm. It is best to contact the site you are storing with for current gate hours or visit our website at http://www.globalselfstorage.us/.
  • Do you provide a free moving truck?  Yes. There is a moving truck available at our Merrillville facility. Please contact a site representative about using the moving truck for move-ins as restrictions apply.
